Introduction

Hello! My name is Katie Sarnie. I recently completed my undergrad at Bridgewater State University with a major in Elementary Education and English. After completing my student teaching, I received a long term substitute position in 5th grade. This position took me to the end of the 2017-2018 school year. I am currently a third grade teacher at the same district. Teaching in both 3rd and 5th grade has given me the opportunity to reflect of the grade level I was to pursue. I love teaching third grade and do not think I could go a grade above third but would not mind going lower! I am currently taking courses to receive my Masters in Education. I chose to take this course because I want to continue my professional development as a teaching and incorporate literacy into my technology into my instruction. I have found there are countless ways to incorporate technology into mathematics and STEM. However finding the appropriate means to incorporate technology into literacy instruction is one of my goals for this upcoming semester. I am excited for this course and look forward to implementing the various new literacy into my instruction. With technology being so prominent in our world and education I think finding the correct means to engage students in various literacy is extremely important.

  3. Hi Katie!
I am currently teaching Technology/Engineering at the middle school level. I cant wait to read about your ideas on how to incorporate technology and STEM into a third grade classroom as this is the ideal grade I would like to end up teaching as well.
